Hi there.
"My childhood was plagued with abuse and witchcraft"
My name is Bupe Tyson and I was saved in the summer of 2005. It was a dramatic conversion having been a drug addict and alcoholic for almost five years prior. I was born in Malawi and moved to the UK when I was ten years old.
My childhood was plagued with abuse and witchcraft which led to serious mental health issues in my adult years. I was angry, depressed and ostracised from family, failing at even the simplest of social tasks like keeping a basic job. My life was spiralling out of control when I had an encounter with Jesus Christ at a bible camp in 2005. A year later, I was married, alcohol and drug free, a born again Christian studying to become a teacher.
"I was backslidden, separated from my family and heavily involved with drink and drugs again".
Our family grew to five in total but problems soon started with my marriage which led me back to alcohol and drugs. By 2012, I was backslidden, separated from my family and heavily involved with drink and drugs again. This led to my moving to Turkey in 2017 where I lived and taught for five years. Whilst there, my problems worsened leading to a situation where had it not been for the Covid-19 pandemic, I would have surely destroyed myself.
I returned in September 2021 after the lockdown was lifted but ended homeless on the streets of Lancaster. I was moved to Preston in January 2022 to be closer to my children and in February of the same year I discovered Potter’s House (after a quick search on the internet). The Lord led me back to church where I gave my life back to Him. Ever since then, he has blessed my life immensely, the culmination of which has been reuniting with my children. The picture below was something I had lost in the eight years away from the Lord: it was the first time I had been in the company of all five of my children at my eldest son’s wedding.
"Jesus Christ not only gave me a second chance, he has quickly restored what I had lost and blessed me in ways I could have never have imagined".
